Career and College Fair Reflection

On Friday, December 16, 2016, a college fair was being hosted at ITHS in order to inform all CTE academy students about college opportunities. It all started pretty early and I had to come in with business casual attire so it was quite important for the teacher and for me. Since it was early, not a lot of colleges nor their representatives were there so we had to wait for a couple of minutes and little by little they started coming in. Our task for the day was to get information on colleges and look at programs they offered and ask alumni about the intel they offered. Colleges like SUNY Polytechnic Institute, BMCC, Minorit Science Engineering Improvement Program, and old ITHS students that had previously been in a CTE academy give details on college process applications.
A lot of intel was given like since both big and small schools went. Small schools, like Suny Polytechnic Institute is a perfect environment for people/students to come as one and work together for computer science reasons. There was programs like ASAP (Accelerated Study in Associate Programs) which bring significant change to those who need dire help financially and academically. They offer an unlimited metro card, tuition, textbook voucher, early registration options, etc but there are certain requirements needed in order to have full access to these benefits. All of these advantages come to use once I'm in college and would want extra support and help from sources around me.
College is quite an important stage in the life of one since it leads one in becoming an adult and having a secure, fundamental job. Having a diploma that certifies that you have mastered skills in a specific field means that you are truly important for what you can do and that means companies and other important figures might want you to work for them. All I know is that I have to keep trying my hardest and stay focused in school to result as someone intelligent and educated for my future. Thank you Mrs. Ramirez, Ms. Lopez, Mrs. Hyde, and all the other school staff that made this event happen and to those who came to the college fair to share their information for us.
