Facebook Hackathon Reflection

SO on Saturday, March 04, 2017, individually the Web Academy family had to attend a hackathon being hosted by Facebook. They were being sponsored by many other companies. Anyways, it all started at exactly 8:00 in the morning. (Quite early compared to our first one) I met up with a couple of the early birds like Anvinh, Ashahi, Diondre, and Malik. When we first stepped into the building, it felt so luxurious and so much excitement came into mind waiting for me to look forward to the day. The breakfast was OKAY, they gave out my all time favorite beverage: COFFEE and a pretty wide variety of bagels with either the options to spread butter or cream cheese. Next time, they should ass jelly somewhere in there or a toaster so at least the bread is enjoyable to eat. After breakfast, most of the class started coming in and getting settled down meanwhile, others were making up their teams made of 2-3 people. I was in group of 3 including myself, Ayoub and Veronica!! We made a team logo, banner and started brainstorming beforehand since we had an idea of what was gonna be asked of us. Once they did tell us what our objective of the day was, all of the teams set up would be given a mentor to get any sorts of help from. My team was working on time until we came to the part of actually coding an APP on AppLab, which we never used before in class nor had any sorts of experience with beforehand. This was my biggest struggle throughout the whole day. My team was very supportive and helped me a lot along the way and just in time, we were all able to complete our own project with our own text responses. For lunch, we had some sandwiches and water and finally for dinner, we had dominos pizza with some soda, which really tasted good! The whole day was tiring and stressful but I had a blast just being around my classmates and having a good time. We all learned something new at the end of the day and it really felt good getting more experience in coding Javascript!
To conclude, this hackathon was truly fullfilling and made me feel a bit more confident in my work. Having those 10 hours of practice for APCSP Exam made me feel like I'll be able to manage my time more and be more efficient in the work I create and produce. I now have a true real idea of what the real test may be like and I feel like I'm ready for it now!
